sidewalk-street-hostel-budapestI’m staying at the Baroque Hostel Budapest: vaulted ceilings, eclectic guests, friendly staff, interior courtyards, and entire wings hidden in wardrobes. I love it! There is so much to do and see nearby and the subway is just blocks away. There’s the huge Varosliget City Park right across the street with huge trees, many fantastic monuments such as the Revolution Monument and Heroes’ Square (Hosok Tere), and a number of great museums and castles as well.

I feel like I can breath here, the streets are double wide with bike lanes and huge sidewalks, the European buildings are weathering and crumbling, foliage is taking root everywhere, people are walking their dogs and day drinking. Last night I went to a Hungarian symphony that made me weep and gave me goosebumps up and down my spine even despite the piece of human excrement kicking my seat throughout. The wifi is lightning fast; I’m listening to a metal station, idobi howl, that matches the atmosphere of Baroque Hostel Budapest, Hungary very well.
